Get Ahead of Boxelder Bugs and Stink Bugs
Seasonal pests can show up by in significant quantities when the weather changes. Our semi-annual treatment is timed for April and October to prevent and eliminate boxelder bugs, stink bugs, and other seasonal invaders around your home.
Why Timing Matters
Boxelder bugs and stink bugs are seasonal pests. Their activity changes with the weather, which is why treating once they’re already covering the side of your house isn’t necessarily the best strategy.
I recommend treatments in April and October, when seasonal activity makes these treatments most useful.
More Than Just Spraying the Bugs You See
Foundation & Eave Treatment
I treat the foundation and eaves of the structure to create a treated zone around common pest entry and activity areas.
2. Granular Bait
I apply granular bait around the structure to target pests moving through the landscape and perimeter of the home.
3. Dust in Small Gaps
Small gaps and cracks around the structure can provide excellent hiding places and entry points for pests. I use dust in appropriate areas that liquid treatments can’t always reach effectively.
4. Web & Wasp Nest Removal
I remove accessible wasp nests and spider webs that I can find around the structure during service. This doesn’t just make the house look better, it removes active pest structures that can otherwise continue to cause problems.
The idea is redundancy. Instead of relying on one treatment method, I use several complementary methods so that if one layer doesn’t perform perfectly, the others are still working.
Why Two Treatments a Year?
Boxelder bugs and stink bugs are seasonal pests, so you don’t necessarily need the same pest control schedule year round.
That’s why I recommend treating in April and October. These two services are designed around the times of year when seasonal pests are most likely to become a problem around your home.
It’s a more targeted approach for homeowners who primarily want protection from seasonal invaders without committing to quarterly pest control.
What Happens During Your Treatment?
1. Inspect the property
I look for signs of pest activity, nests, webs, and conditions that may contribute to pest problems.
2. Treat the stucture
I apply exterior treatment to the foundation and eaves.
3. Treat the perimeter
Granular bait is applied around the structure where appropriate.
4. Treat small gaps
Dust is applied to appropriate cracks, gaps, and other areas where it can provide additional protection.
5. Remove accessible webs and nests
I knock down spider webs and remove accessible wasp nests I find around the structure.
6. Identify problem areas
If I find something that requires attention beyond normal general pest control, I’ll let you know.
Seasonal Pest Protection
This service is designed primarily for boxelder bugs, stink bugs, and other seasonal pests.
Because the treatment itself is the same multi-layered treatment I use for general pest control, it can also provide control of other common pests around the structure. However, the semi-annual service is intended for seasonal pest protection and does not provide the same ongoing coverage for non-seasonal pests as quarterly pest control.
How You Can Help
Keep plants trimmed at least 3 feet from the structure.
Avoid excessive mulch against the foundation.
Seal obvious cracks and gaps when practical.
Keep doors and windows properly screened/sealed.
Don’t leave piles of debris directly against the house.
This Service May Be a Good Fit If…
Boxelder bugs or stink bugs are a recurring seasonal problem.
You want protection during spring and fall.
You don’t need quarterly pest control.
You’re primarily concerned about seasonal invaders rather than year round pests.
If you’re also dealing with spiders, ants, earwigs, wasps, millipedes, and other common pests throughout the year, quarterly pest control may be a better fit.
Stop Seasonal Pests Before They Take Over
Boxelder bugs and stink bugs don’t need to be a year-round problem. With treatments timed for April and October, you can protect your home during the seasons when these pests are most active without paying for quarterly service you may not need.
Schedule your semi-annual Boxelder Bug Control Service today and get ahead of the next seasonal invasion.
