Take Back Your Yard

Professional mosquito control designed to reduce adult mosquitoes and interrupt their life cycle, so you can spend more time enjoying your yard and less time swatting bugs.

Mosquitoes Don’t Just Hang Out Anywhere

Mosquitoes spend much of their time resting in protected areas around your property. Dense vegetation, shaded areas, and other sheltered locations can provide the conditions they need to survive between meals.

Simply killing the mosquitoes you happen to see doesn’t necessarily solve the problem. New adults can continue emerging and replacing them.

More Than Just Killing Adult Mosquitoes

My mosquito control service uses multiple approaches to reduce mosquito activity around your property. I target adult mosquitoes where they rest while also using an insect growth regulator to interfere with the development of immature mosquitoes.

The goal is to address the mosquito population from more than one direction rather than relying entirely on a single treatment.

1. Treat Where Adult Mosquitoes Rest
I apply insecticide to the undersides of foliage and other appropriate areas where adult mosquitoes commonly rest.
Targeting these sheltered resting areas allows the treatment to focus on locations where mosquitoes are actually spending time rather than simply spraying everything in sight.

2. Interrupt the Life Cycle

I also use an insect growth regulator (IGR) as part of the treatment. An IGR interferes with the development of immature mosquitoes, helping prevent them from successfully developing into reproductive adults.

One part of the treatment addresses the adults that are already present. The other helps reduce the number of new adults that can develop.

That’s the advantage of a multi-layered approach: you’re not relying on a single method to do all the work.

Additional Protection for Your Yard

Mosquitoes aren’t the only biting pests that can make spending time outdoors unpleasant. As part of the mosquito service, I also treat appropriate grass areas for fleas and ticks.

Fleas and ticks spend much of their time in and around vegetation rather than flying through the air like mosquitoes. Treating the appropriate areas of the yard helps address these pests where they are most likely to be found.

What to Expect During Your Service

1. Assess the property

I’ll look at the areas around your property that are likely to harbor mosquito activity.

2. Treat mosquito resting areas

I apply insecticide to appropriate foliage and other sheltered areas where adult mosquitoes rest.

3. Apply IGR

I incorporate an insect growth regulator into the treatment to help interrupt mosquito development.

4. Treat grass for fleas and ticks

Appropriate grass areas are treated to help reduce flea and tick activity.

5. Identify conditions contributing to mosquito activity

If I notice conditions that may be contributing to mosquito pressure, I’ll point them out so you know what you can do to help.

How You Can Help Reduce Mosquitoes

Professional treatment can significantly reduce mosquito activity, but what happens around your property matters too.

Mosquitoes can reproduce in surprisingly small amounts of stagnant water. Empty or address things such as buckets, toys, plant saucers, clogged gutters, and other containers that collect water.

Dense vegetation provides shaded, protected resting areas for adult mosquitoes. Keeping plants and vegetation maintained can reduce some of these harborage areas.

Overwatering and poorly draining areas can create conditions that favor mosquitoes.

Stored tires are extremely difficult to remove water from and are a favorite spot for mosquitoes to reproduce.

The less favorable your property is to mosquitoes, the more effective our treatment can be.

Why One Treatment Isn’t Enough

Mosquito populations are constantly changing. New mosquitoes can emerge, weather can change conditions around your property, and surrounding properties can continue to contribute to mosquito pressure.

That’s why mosquito control works best as a seasonal treatment program rather than a single application.

What Mosquito Control Can Do

The goal of mosquito control is to significantly reduce mosquito activity around your property, not guarantee that you’ll never encounter a mosquito.

Your yard is an outdoor environment, and mosquitoes can travel onto your property from surrounding areas. Weather, irrigation, standing water, vegetation, and neighboring properties can all affect mosquito pressure.

Mosquito Control May Be a Good Fit If…

  • You avoid using your yard because of mosquitoes.

  • Your family gets bitten whenever you’re outside.

  • You enjoy outdoor gatherings but mosquitoes make them unpleasant.

  • You have a heavily landscaped or shaded property.

  • You want seasonal protection rather than constantly applying store bought repellents.

If you’re dealing with a particularly severe mosquito problem, I’ll also help identify conditions around your property that may be contributing to it.
